Adding a rooftop basket to the top of your Explorer is gonna allow you to increase your cargo capacity by takin' advantage of the negative space on top of your roof. What's special about the SkinnyWarrior is the fact that it is narrow, so that allows you to get a basket up here, but frees up the other half of your roof rack system to add in other things like kayak carriers, bike carriers, or maybe even a cargo box. Takin' a closer look at the SkinnyWarrior itself, the way that it works, it's gonna have a clamp system that wraps around your bars. How is it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior Rooftop Basket on our 2022 Chevrolet Colorado. Now, a rooftop basket is gonna help solve the issue of having limited cargo space, because you have a compact pickup. You know, cargo space is at a premium, and this lets you use that negative space on top of your roof. So our basket is actually constructed of powder coated steel, so that's gonna hold up against the elements out there on the road and, you know, help resist corrosion. Overall, our basket is a pretty decent amount of space as far as usable space. You're right at about a little over 22 inches as far as your width, and your length is right at 55 as far as the usable space in your basket, and a little bit over five inches as far as the height of the bar. more

Hey everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at how the Yakima OffGrid roof basket fits on the 2019 Nissan Sentra. This is a great way to free up some space, if you have, let's say extra bulky items or you've got your sports equipment and you don't want them muddying up your vehicle's interior, you can put them on the roof with this basket. So I have the 40 by 44 inch long basket and I put this towards the front because you can have an 18 inch extension added onto this if you need the extra room. As you can see sitting there at the front, moving all the way to the back of the car if you need to load it up towards the back of the vehicle, you can do so. more

It's a good option, just because if you have the open design here on the outside, plenty of room to run those straps and tie down your cargo. It's open up on the back side too. John: Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com and today we have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. We're test fitting the Yakima OffGrid cargo basket. This has a 165-pound weight capacity and it's a great way to add some more cargo space to your pickup. It has an overall length of 44 inches and an overall width of 40 inches, but internally you're adding here about 39 inches by about 38 inches worth of cargo area. You do have the integrated crossbars here you can kind of move front and back and the back end here is open. So it really opens up the possibilities of what kind of cargo you can fit.As you can see, we still have plenty of space underneath the cargo basket here to store extra stuff. more

Hey guys, today we're gonna take a look at the Yakima SkinnyWarrior Rooftop Cargo Basket with the extension. Like I said, this is gonna have a 16 inch extension that goes in the middle of our SkinnyWarrior. That's just gonna give us 16 more inches of length on our cargo basket so that we have more storage capacity, for more gear, to get it outside of our vehicle.Now, the baskets gonna mount to the roof rack of our vehicle. Again, allows us to get any of the excess cargo, or any dirty, or soiled gear out of the interior of our vehicle and get it up above our roof so that we can travel with it.Now the unique design of this cargo basket is that it's a lot thinner than your standard cargo baskets, hence the name SkinnyWarrior. Now, it's gonna allow you to get other gear on the other side of your roof rack, like we have a kayak right now, but also bike racks and anything else like that.Now, with anything you put on your roof, you are gonna experience some wind noise and drag. Yakima wants to help you out with that, which is why they included this fairing that's easily removable so that's gonna help deflect that wind over top of your cargo basket. more

Rola Roof Basket Review - 2016 Honda CR-V- Video
So today on our 2016 Honda CRV we're going to be doing a test fit on the Rola Atlas Roof Top Cargo Basket. So I've already got it in place to give you a good idea what it looks like on your CRV.Now, it measures about 56 inches long, 43 1/2 inches wide and it's about four inches deep. You can see here how it features a fairing in the front, what's unique to this basket because it features a fairing it's going to be a little bit quieter. It's going to help redirect that wind around it rather just blowing right through it like most baskets. So, it's going to be quieter on our roof.What's unique to this basic is it features a roof rack system within the inside. You can the crossbar here and then a crossbar in the back, so that way when it's using up your crossbars on your CRV you can still put your accessories like your bike racks or you kayak carriers on the inside while carrying your gear.Now it is a fixed system on the inside so that's going to be about 35 inches, center on center so you'll need to choose accessories that work with that crossbar spread. more

Now a cargo basket, if you're not familiar with it, it works just like a cargo box, the only difference being that it doesn't have an enclosed lid. So everything's gonna be out in the open. So that's something you do want to keep in mind that when you want to load any excess cargo, luggage, anything like that to where you want to create more space in the inside of your vehicle. It'll work with most of your after-market roof racks, whether you've got the aero bars like we have on this one, or if you have elliptical bars, round bars, or even square bars, it'll work with those as well. Rhino Rack Roof Basket Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today, on our 2019 Subaru Outback wagon, gonna take a look at the Rhino-Rack roof mounted cargo basket. Now, we have the basket installed on the Subaru's roof here to give you a nice idea of how it would look. As you can see, it's made from a nice steel construction that's been powder coated black to help protect it out of the elements. It has a nice, unique look. Also, on the front of the basket features a nice fairing here, and that helps cut down wind noise, and drag.Now, this is a clay-upon 00:00:44 style basket, which as you can see, it works nicely with the Subaru's factory roof rack system, and should work with just about any after market or factory roof rack system. Now, it does come with all the brackets, hardware, and tools needed to install it, so if you're going to be removing, or installing the rack regularly it might take you a few extra minutes over some of the other models available.Now, the basket itself is 47 inches long, 35 inches wide, and about 5 1/2 inches deep. more

Curt Roof Basket Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Okay, today on our 2013 Subaru Outback wagon, we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket. We got the basket installed on the Subaru's roof here, to give you a nice idea how it would look. This particular basket uses a clamp-on style mounting system. It's very easy to use. As you can see, it works great with our Subaru's factory refract system, and it should work with many other aftermarket and factory roof rack systems as well.Now, the way it works, there's four clamps, just simple thumb knobs here. You can tighten those down to secure it to the rack. more

Yakima Roof Basket Review - 2016 Jeep Patriot- Video
Today in our 2016 Jeep Patriot, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Yakima Offgrid Roof Top Cargo Basket, part number Y07138-08.This basket mounts to the roof rack of your vehicle. It allows you to transport any cargo or sports and recreational gear on top of the roof of your vehicle, for any times where your vehicle might be full of other cargo, or family members, or if you have some sports gear that might be too muddy to put on the inside of your vehicle, it'll be nice to transport it up there until you get home and are able to wash it off.We'll go ahead and hop up here and I'll show you a little bit about the inside of it. As you can see, it's mounted down by four rubber-coated steel straps. These straps come up and under our crossbars, and they latch in right there. Once you do that, you just push it over just like that.Now, this is pretty loose right now, so we're gonna bring it back and tighten it down a bit using this blue little knob. We'll just spin it to the right just to tighten it down a bit more, so that way when we clamp it, it's a little bit tighter. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Yakima OffGrid Rooftop Cargo Basket, part number Y07138. Now, this roof basket mounts to the rooftop of your vehicle. It's gonna allow you to carry any cargo that you can't fit inside your vehicle on top of your roof safely. Now, keep in mind, this is an open-basket design, so any materials you might have that are sensitive to rain, heat, or cold, you might wanna try to keep those inside and keep other stuff up on top of the basket.You have 44" of length to the basket, while it's 40" wide. You can purchase an extension that inserts right here, to take the length from 44" to 62", giving you a lot more space to carry cargo. We have a fairing on the front that's gonna help cut down on wind noise and drag while we're traveling at high speeds. more

As an open basket design, meaning that you'd want to be careful of what you put up there, because they're going to be exposed to the elements, so anything that's sensitive to heat, cold, or water, you probably want to try to keep that inside your vehicle. This is going to allow you to get additional gear or passengers inside and to your destination. Something I really like about the looks of this basket, it kind of blends the best of both worlds. It looks very rugged. It looks very durable, but it still has some of the sleek contours that make it a nice looking basket.Now, these are available in four different sizes. Now this is a cargo basket that mounts to the rooftop of your vehicle. It's gonna allow you to haul any accessories, gear, or any other cargo that you might not have room for in your vehicle or that you might not just want in your vehicle while you're traveling. We have 40 inches on the width of our cargo basket. If you wish to have more space to store your cargo, we have 60 inch crossbars on our MDX, so that's gonna let you know you can utilize the 49 inch version of this cargo basket if you want more space for your cargo. more

Yakima Roof Basket Review - 2016 Kia Sorento- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Kia Sorento, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Yakima Off Grid Roof Top Cargo Basket with the extension. That part number is Y07138-08. If you wish to have this cargo basket without the usage, then you can purchase that under part number Y07138.Now, the extension is going to add about 18" to the length of your basket, taking it from 44" to 62". The width with the extension and without it is going to be 40".Now, we have four different points where it mounts to our roof top, or to our roof rack, excuse me. We have four rubber coated steel straps that are gonna provide a nice, secure feature to our cargo basket. I'll show you how to install this last one real quick. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Cadillac XT5- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Cadillac XT5, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Canyon XT rooftop cargo basket, part number TH859XT. This basket has 150 pound carrying capacity and is great for carrying anything from your camping equipment to your sporting goods; anything you want to keep out from the inside up on your roof, and the straps are also sold separately for that.This measures 49 inches long by 40 inches wide, by six inches tall at its highest point, so it has plenty of space to store your goods up on your roof. This also has a built-in fairing, and that coupled with the aerodynamic shape of the basket itself, that's going to help cut down the wind noise and drag while you're driving. So, it's going to be a lot quieter than most of the other baskets on the market. With it installed as it is right now, we're not going to have an issue of clearance between our rear hatch and our basket. As you can see, there's more than enough space between the two.Now, we have it for the most part already installed onto our roof rack here. more

Rola Roof Basket Review - 2017 Jeep Renegade- Video
Speaker 1: Today in our 2017 Jeep Renegade we're gonna be taking a look at and test fitting a Rola Rooftop Cargo Basket. And that's gonna be part number 59504. As you can see this is a basket style rooftop cargo basket that's gonna mount to the roof rack that you have installed on your vehicle. It's gonna be a nice accessory to have for if your vehicle is already full of cargo, kids, or even your pets. It's gonna be a nice way to haul that cargo and keep it safe.The cargo basket has a nice sturdy steel design to it with a black pattern coat finish, so it's gonna be corrode resistant. Kuat Vagabond X Roof Cargo Basket Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Kuat Vagabond X Roof Cargo Basket and 2-Bike Carrier. Part number is VX201. Now as you can see, the Vagabond X does an excellent job of freeing up space inside your vehicle. By getting items outside onto the roof our vehicle, we're able to free up space inside for either more gear, passengers, or pets.Now, it's also going to have two fork mount skewer blocks to allow you to attach two bikes, as long as they've got the removable front skewer wheel. Really, after getting it mounted up here and loaded, it's really, really secure. There's really no movement or play in the bike side-to-side. more

Kuat Roof Basket Review - 2018 Toyota Corolla- Video
Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Toyota Corolla, we're gonna be test fitting the Kuat Vagabond X rooftop cargo basket and two bike carrier, part number VX201.This measures 52 inches long by 41 inches wide, so there's plenty of space in the basket itself to store anything from your luggage, your camping gear, to your sporting goods equipment. Of course, at the front here, well you do have two skewer mounts, to carry up to two bikes.This does have a carrying capacity of 160 pounds, but you always wanna double check with your vehicle's manual to go by its weight recommendation when putting stuff on your roof.This does also have an extension piece, but for this particular vehicle, this size seems to be the best for that. It also has a fairing pre-installed at the front here, and that coupled with the aerodynamic shape of the basket itself, that's gonna help cut down wind noise and drag while you drive, and because of its positioning here, you're not gonna have an issue of clearance with our trunk and the basket either.Let's go ahead and show you how this actually installs. It's a very easy installation process. Our first step is you wanna take this plastic piece here, a bracket, that's gonna separate the basket from your roof rack system. Next, we'll take our metal bracket here, that goes up top. more

Thule Roof Basket Review - 2018 Ford Explorer- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford Explorer, we're gonna be test fitting Thule's Canyon X2 roof cargo basket. The 49 inch long model is part number TH859XT. And you can get a longer 69 inch model with part number TH859XT-8591XT. This cargo carrier is gonna allow you to get stuff outside of your vehicle and up on your roof. So, now you can get more passengers inside the vehicle. The multiple bars that run across it are gonna offer plenty of tie down points, so no matter what sized gear you have, you'll find a way to strap it down. more

This measures 52 inches long by 41 inches wide, so that's a pretty decent surface area to store your camping gear, your sporting goods equipment, or your luggage, to free up some space inside your Rogue; and it also has two fork mounts up at the front here, so you can carry up to two bikes on your cargo basket while you travel as well.It does offer an extension piece that will go into the center here, and you can find that on etrailer.com as well. This has a carrying capacity of 160 pounds, which you always want to double check with the vehicles manual to make sure your roof can take those weights. It also has a nice aerodynamic shape to it, and that, coupled with the fairing up at the front here, that's going to help cut down wind noise and drag while you drive, and this is really nice compared to some of the other cargo baskets that have just the flat front here.So let's go ahead and show you how the last connection point goes into place. Set everything in place here. We'll start by placing our metal bracket on top of our plastic mount, and this is what sits in between the basket and the roof rack system. more
